Which outdoor sauna are you looking for?

An outdoor sauna turns your garden into a place to unwind. You walk out of the house, warm up and cool down in the fresh air. On this page you can compare every garden sauna for sale from several retailers in one overview, from small cabins to larger models with a porch.

Types of outdoor sauna

There are several shapes and heat sources to choose from.

  • Cabin or garden house: a classic shape with straight walls and a roof. Often there is room for a changing area.
  • Barrel: a round shape that heats efficiently. See our barrel saunas.
  • Infrared: gentle heat at about 35 to 60 °C. See our outdoor infrared saunas.
  • Finnish heat: air at about 70 to 100 °C with steam from water on the stones. The heater can be electric or wood-fired.

What to check before you buy an outdoor sauna

Every outdoor sauna needs a flat, stable foundation, such as paving slabs or a concrete base. Make sure rainwater can drain away. Check the roof covering, because it protects the wood. The wood also needs regular maintenance to stay in good condition. Popular woods are red cedar, hemlock, spruce and thermowood.

Think about the power supply too. An electric heater uses 3.5 to 9 kW. Up to about 3.6 kW can often run on 230 V. Larger heaters need 400 V three-phase power. A wood-fired heater needs no power but does need a safe chimney. Also check your local permit rules before you build.

Our outdoor sauna buying guide explains each step in more detail.

Price of a garden sauna

Outdoor saunas start from about €3,600. These prices are indicative and change often. Barrel saunas cost about €5,000 to €14,000 or more. The price depends on the size, the shape, the wood, the heater and extras like a porch or windows. Also keep a budget for the foundation and the electrical work.

Many people find it relaxing to use their sauna all year round, even in winter.
