Which infrared sauna are you looking for?
An outdoor infrared sauna lets you enjoy gentle infrared heat in your own garden. It is built to stand outside, with a roof and sturdier walls than an indoor cabin. On this page you can compare outdoor infrared models from several retailers and see which one suits your garden.
What makes an outdoor infrared sauna different?
An outdoor cabin has to deal with rain, wind and sun. It needs a roof covering and wood that can handle the weather. The heat works the same as indoors. The air stays at about 35 to 60 °C, warm-up takes 10 to 20 minutes and a session usually lasts 20 to 40 minutes. Many people find it relaxing to sit in the warmth while it is cold outside.
- Emitters: carbon gives a soft, even heat. Ceramic feels more intense. Full spectrum combines several wavelengths.
- Power: most cabins use 1.5 to 2.5 kW. Plan a safe outdoor power supply and ask an electrician for advice.
- Wood: red cedar, hemlock, spruce or thermowood. Thermowood and red cedar are often chosen for outdoor use.
Placing an outdoor infrared sauna
Every outdoor sauna needs a flat, stable foundation, such as paving slabs or a concrete base. Check that water can drain away. The roof covering protects the cabin, and the wood needs regular maintenance to stay in good condition. Also check your local permit rules before you build. Place the cabin close to the house if you can, so the power cable stays short.

What does it cost?
Outdoor saunas start from about €3,600. These prices are indicative and change often. The price depends on the size, the wood, the roof and the emitters. Also keep a budget for the foundation and the electrical connection. Ask the retailer what is included in the delivery, and whether assembly is part of the price.
